MPAA Endorses the Use of "Section

301" as a Valid Tool to Protect the Industry

Memo - April 23rd 2004
From Alan M. Dunn and William A. Fennell of the Washington DC-based trade law firm Stewart & Stewart.

This 3 page memo shows that a "Special 301", that is used by the MPAA, is the same as a "Section 301". (301a petition) FTAC is using the same trade law "The Section 301" (301a petition) to end the outsourcing of our American film workers jobs. (runaway production) A "Special 301" (MPAA) and a "301a petition" (FTAC) relies upon the same "identical" Section 301 for any potential enforcement actions that may be taken to address the problems.

MPAA GETS CAUGHT

The MPAA often argues against the use of a 301 petition... and yet they themselves have used it to protect their own profits. Watch this video of FTAC’s attorney commenting on the MPAA’s use of the 301 petition.
